The art director sent indications of placement and content ideas for the particular model and make of van.
After studying Jon’s notes and drawings, I sent off some roughs for approval.
Once approved the final full color decals were drawn to scale as vector illustrations.
Wonder on Wheels
I was commissioned by Traction, a small boutique agency in Michigan, to do a series of illustrations for a science museum van. The art director on this project happened to be one of the first design students I ever had – Jon Eslinger. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with Jon a few times over the years and I can say he is very detailed in his direction. His input was critical, because I never once set foot in this science museum, yet I was expected to illustrate children experiencing some of their exhibits.
